Painting with Light - seduction of the rain

It had not been raining for the last few days. The temperature is hot and dry. It was reported that there is an increase of wild fire springing up sporadically around the island. The weather was hot and we wished that a shower would help to drive away the dry spell. The rain came and we felt so much cooler. It stopped after an hour. Immediately after, I grabbed my camera and headed straight to the Ang Moh Kio park. In the lift I met a lady who was impressed with my foldable bike and was surprise when I told her I was going to the garden to shoot some insects and spiders.

The rain clear up the pond and drove away the oily layer that had stood on top of the water casting an irregular pattern. There were so many droplets of water that rolled and glittered on the lotus leave. I was awed. I quickly took out my camera and started to shoot. After a few shots, I felt some rain droplets on my hand. Look up and see more rain droplets coming down. I packed up my camera, rolled the bicycle up to the path way and cycled wildly towards the MacDonald for shelter.

I waited for the rain to stop and went back to the lotus pond for more picture. This time, it did  not rain again. I spent noon and an additional hour to photograph the insects and the plants. The pond is clear. Temperature cooling. As I was lying prone shooting, I notice my lens was fogging. I had to face it up wards and let the fog clear form the lens. I suspect the air-conditioned at Macdonald had lowered the temperature causing it to fog when in contact with high humidity.

Painting with Light

Amazing place to photography lotus and nature

I had been going to this lotus pond for at least a year. I had not been shooting much at this pond. Recently the lotus was flourishing and it is a great sight. I had been inspired and spend the whole week shooting and observing the pond. I learn a lot a bout light and shadow.

This is my attempt to paint with light. Love the reflection and colors.
